Depression

Every year, an estimated 40,000 icebergs break away from glaciers and wander the seas. Separated from their parent source, they rapidly begin the melting process and vanish within a few years.

Humans were made “in the image of God, male and female.” (Genesis 1:27) This God -- with intentional design -- created a male body and a female body, set them in a context of exclusive, life-long union, and said, ‘There! THAT is very good.’ To wander from this design is to drift from our Parent source – toward death itself. For the knowledge of ourselves in the eyes of our Creator IS Life. And receiving identity as a gift from our Good Father is “the only way to really know you’re loved.” (~The King’s Gift) And Love, after all, is what we’re all (desperately) searching for. Separated from Him who IS love, we inevitably ‘begin the melting process.’

We find in this world that some feelings are useful and others are not: Feelings of worthlessness fail to propel me into my destiny; feelings of hate that move me to lash out against another could land me in jail. But feelings of hope give me courage to pursue purpose; and feelings of love give me energy to help myself and the world around me.

A good parent would encourage their children to choose feelings of hope over feelings of despair, feelings of love over feelings of hate … knowing that despair and hate are deceptions. They do not lead us down the path we (in actuality) want to go. Hate is not preferable to love. Death is not preferable to life.

If a person despises their body, or feels a phobia toward their own body parts … God can deliver them from both fear and hatred – even of themselves. If this is you: trust that He did not make a mistake when He created you. He gave you your gender as a promise – of what He created you to be … even if you don’t feel it yet; or even if people around you who were meant to protect you have instead abused you. God hates any measure of injustice done against you. He wants to restore you. Come to Him. Rest in His promise. And Wait for him to fulfill it.
